Dabaisha — "big white sand" — faces the open Pacific and takes the Kuroshio before the rest of the island does. That exposure is the whole character of it: cleaner water than the west coast, more fish, and green turtles in numbers that stop being remarkable by the third one. The reef runs from about 8 m down a slope to 30, and the current usually runs along it, so it is most often dived as a drift with the boat following. The same exposure means it is weather-dependent in a way the sheltered west coast is not, and it is the first site to close.
On Green Island’s south-east coast, fifteen minutes by scooter from the harbour, or by boat with an operator.

Before you get in
- A drift dive: you do not come back to where you went in, so boat pickup and an SMB are part of the plan rather than extras.
Taken from this site’s recorded depth, type and current, and nothing else. An empty list is not a safe site — the sea on the day, the local geography and the boat traffic are not in it. The briefing on the spot comes first.
