A natural chimney through the limestone shelf off Orote Point. The top is a square opening at about 18 m; the shaft drops straight down and opens through a window in the outer wall at around 40 m, where the reef falls away into blue. The usual dive drops in from the top, exits through the window and works back up the wall outside. It is deeper than it looks from above, the exit is the deepest part of the plan, and the wall beyond it is where the current and the sharks are. Swell wrapping around the point closes the site often enough that a booked day is not a guaranteed one.

Twenty minutes by boat from Apra Harbor or Agana; cancelled when swell wraps around Orote Point.

Before you get in

  • A cavern — inside the daylight zone, but still with a ceiling, and with stretches where you cannot simply go up.
  • Past 30 m, where no-stop time and gas both go quickly and nitrogen narcosis starts to show.
  • A wall. There is no bottom in sight to judge against, so depth is kept by the gauge alone — and it is easy to end up deeper than intended.

Taken from this site’s recorded depth, type and current, and nothing else. An empty list is not a safe site — the sea on the day, the local geography and the boat traffic are not in it. The briefing on the spot comes first.
