A passenger-cargo ship requisitioned as an aircraft ferry and sunk during Operation Hailstone in February 1944. She sits upright with the bottom at about 37 m and her masts reaching within 5 m of the surface, which is why she gives more bottom time than almost any wreck her size. Hold 2 holds the fuselages and radial engines of Zero fighters. The engine room, entered through a skylight, is an overhead dive that needs the training to match it — the rest is open and forgiving. Soft coral and Christmas tree worms have taken the masts and kingposts completely. Everything in the holds is a war grave and stays where it is.
Fly to Chuuk (Weno) via Guam. Operators on the island run day boats to the lagoon wrecks, and liveaboards work the same water.

Before you get in
- Going inside a wreck is an overhead environment: silt can take the visibility in seconds, and there is entanglement. Swimming the outside of it is a different dive.
- Past 30 m, where no-stop time and gas both go quickly and nitrogen narcosis starts to show.
Taken from this site’s recorded depth, type and current, and nothing else. An empty list is not a safe site — the sea on the day, the local geography and the boat traffic are not in it. The briefing on the spot comes first.
