Monad Shoal is the most reliable place in the world to see pelagic thresher sharks. They rise from deep water at dawn to be cleaned by wrasse on the plateau at roughly 25 m. Dives start in darkness and divers hold position behind a rope line — approaching the cleaning stations drives the sharks off. Cold thermoclines and an early start make this a dive for people comfortable at depth in low light.
Twenty-five minutes by boat from Malapascua, departing around 05:00.
