Dos Ojos is part of one of the longest underwater cave systems on earth. The two cavern lines — Barbie Line and Bat Cave — stay within sight of daylight and are dived on a permanent guideline with a cavern guide, which is what separates them from cave diving proper. There is no current, the water is 24 to 25 °C year round, and visibility is effectively unlimited. Depth is trivial; the discipline is entirely about the overhead and staying on the line.
By road from Tulum or Playa del Carmen; entry is from the cenote car park.

- Excellent
Before you get in
- An overhead environment: there is no direct ascent to the surface. Not a dive to make without the training, a guideline and redundant gas.
Taken from this site’s recorded depth, type and current, and nothing else. An empty list is not a safe site — the sea on the day, the local geography and the boat traffic are not in it. The briefing on the spot comes first.
